Billing and Plans

Plan comparison (Trial, Starter, Professional, Firm)

  • Trial — Free; 3 documents; 1 user. No credit card. Good for trying Clara.
  • Starter — €79/month (or €790/year). 25 documents/month; 1 user. For light use.
  • Professional — €149/month (or €1,490/year). Unlimited documents; 1 user; PDF export. For regular use.
  • Firm — €299/month (or €2,990/year). Unlimited documents; 3 seats included; organizations; PDF export. Extra seats: €75/month (or €750/year) each.

All paid plans are billed through Paddle (Merchant of Record). Prices may vary by region or currency.

Document limits and usage tracking

Trial allows 3 documents total (no monthly reset). Starter allows 25 documents per billing month (usage is shown in the app). Professional and Firm have unlimited documents. If you hit your limit on Starter, you can upgrade or wait until the next billing cycle. We do not charge overages without your consent.

Upgrading or downgrading your plan

To upgrade, go to the subscription or billing section in Settings and choose a higher plan; Paddle handles the change and proration, and you get the new limits and features right away. To downgrade, you can switch to a lower plan (e.g. Professional → Starter); the change usually applies at the end of your current billing period, and until then you keep the current plan. If the new plan has lower limits (e.g. document cap), ensure you're within those limits before the switch takes effect.

How billing works (Paddle)

Clara uses Paddle as the Merchant of Record. Paddle processes payments, sends invoices, and handles tax where applicable. Your subscription and payment method are managed in the Paddle customer area (linked from our app or from Paddle emails). Renewals are automatic unless you cancel.

Invoices and payment methods

Invoices are issued by Paddle and sent to the email on your account. You can also access them from the Paddle customer portal. To update your payment method or billing details, use the same portal or the link we provide in Settings.

Canceling your subscription

You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Subscription (or the billing section). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Until then, you keep full access. We do not offer refunds for partial periods.

What happens when your trial ends

When your trial ends (e.g. after 3 documents or the trial period), you’ll be prompted to choose a paid plan. If you don’t subscribe, your account may move to a restricted state: you can usually still sign in and view existing documents, but you may not upload new ones or run new analyses until you upgrade. Exact behavior is described in the app when the trial ends.

What happens when you cancel (read-only access)

After you cancel and your billing period ends, your access may change to read-only: you can sign in and view existing documents and analyses, but you may not upload new documents, run new analyses, or use certain features. This lets you keep access to your data without an active subscription. Details are shown in the app when your subscription ends.
