Document Chat

How document chat works

After a contract is fully analyzed, you can open Document chat (sidebar on desktop, floating button on mobile). Chat uses the document content and analysis (RAG) so answers are grounded in that contract. You can ask for clarification on a clause, more detail on a risk, or a short explanation of a term. Responses are in plain language and reference the document where relevant.

Tips for effective questions

Be specific (e.g. "What does Section 8.2 say about liability?" or "Summarize the termination rights for the client"), reference the document ("Why did Clara flag this as high risk?" or "What are the notice periods?"), and ask one thing at a time for clearer answers. You can ask in the same language as the contract or in your preferred language; Clara will answer accordingly.

Limitations

Chat is only for the selected document — it does not search across your whole library. It is an assistant, not legal advice; always apply your own professional judgment. Very long or complex questions may be truncated or simplified. Chat is available only after full analysis has completed for that document. To compare multiple contracts or search across matters, use the document list and filters; chat is per-document only.
